Couple of other things:
Do you have a firewall installed? if so, disable it and then try the update.
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
Try that link above and see if it works.
Another fix:
Open the folder (whatever drive letter) "\Program Files\WindowsUpdate" (you may need to change folder options to view hidden files and folders) and delete
everything in it except for the file "wuhistv3.log". It's a log file that contains the Windows Update history so leave it.....
Might mention, a number of reasons why a MS Update download doesn't work. The security settings in IE might be set to prohibit "ActiveX" controls OR sometimes (I've found) that the Windows Update cache folder can sometimes get full of crap files and need to be cleaned out.
Try this as well:
Disable the options "Automatically detect settings" and "Use automatic configuration script."
To do this:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click "Tools," and then click "Internet Options."
3. Click "Connections," and then click "LAN Settings."
4. Make sure the check boxes for "Automatically detect settings" and "Use automatic configuration script" are not selected.
Try to access the Windows Update site again.
Also, verify that you can connect to SSL-enabled Web sites (sites that start with https://).
Most online retailers use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) sites during the checkout/payment process. If you've connected to one of these sites in the past then chances are that SSL is working correctly on your computer. You can also test your ability to connect to SSL sites using a SSL test site like this:
https://www.stanford.edu/group/idg/l...cure/test.html
If you cannot connect to SSL sites then the Windows Update scan will not work. Make sure that the SSL port (port 443) is open on your network.
Further:
Perhaps you have disabled your updates.
START, RUN, Type services.msc
Look for windows updates, make sure they are manual or automatic, and started.
Other than that try clearing your browser cache.
Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet options
delete cookies, and delete temporary internet files, also clear your history.
Another thing to try:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Download that, run it, then reboot, then try the update site.
