LOL, how does this compare to Windows Defrag? Ok, seriously now, has anyone used this new app? Is it rigorous?

I tried it on my crappy work computer using Windows 2000. Seems to be better than the built in one.

A defragger does not have to be very good to be better than a windows defragger. -just my opinion.

Lol, seems to be? or Definitely is? As V said, I hope it performs a lot better... although the feature to be selective of the defrag points sounds good.

How can you tell how well a defragger defrags?

I used the vista defrager. It took all day. It never finished. It slowed down my PC a little, I think. I now use Auslogics defragger. It finishes in less than 2 minutes.

When I used XP's defragger, it took 2.5 hours. I used diskeeper and it defragged in about 2 minutes. It acted like it moved every file. It found fragmentation that XP's missed.

I guess you didn't see that I tried Smart Defrag too? Similar results with Defraggler but both of these products do not seem to have options for a system or boot defrag? For my home computer I'm sticking with Perfect Disk.

Can't speak on Defragger, but Smart Defrag has a couple ways to set it up. One is to start at boot for continuous defragmentation. Another is by schedule. In both cases you can choose which drives to process. I was surprised to see that it not only found all drives on my computer, it also found my network drives.

I ran SmartDefrag on a fully defraged HD (XP defrager) and SmartDefrag said no fragmented files, moved a couple files around and thats it.

I've used PerfectDisk for years and went back to the XP defrag, don't notice a difference so XP defrag is ok in my book.

You can't, other than the Placebo effect, pick the sugar pill that has your favorite color....
